Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) Jassim Muhammad Al Budaiwi met on Tuesday with Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Massimo Aparo, in the Austrian capital, Vienna.
During the meeting, Al Budaiwi affirmed the GCC's interest in strengthening cooperation with the IAEA. They also discussed areas of cooperation between them, and the programs offered by the agency in supporting the GCC countries for the peaceful use of nuclear technology.
GCC Secretary-General stated that they discussed nuclear energy programs in the Middle East region and the ways GCC states can benefit from the IAEA's global network on nuclear safety and security. (QNA)
