GCC Welcomes UN Resolution Renewing UNRWA Mandate

Doha:The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed the United Nations General Assembly's resolution to renew the mandate of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) for an additional three years. In a statement, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi emphasized the increasing importance of UNRWA's role amidst the challenges faced by the Palestinian people, highlighting the need for international efforts to meet their basic needs in education, Health, and emergency humanitarian assistance.

According to Qatar News Agency, Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC states' ongoing support for UNRWA's programs and projects, which is rooted in their consistent stance on the Palestinian cause and dedication to supporting the Palestinian people and their rights. He highlighted the necessity of sustaining UNRWA's operations to enable it to carry out its mandate effectively.
