Doha: The German Electro and Digital Industry Association (ZVEI) has announced that the sector's exports reached a record EUR 257.5 billion last year. This figure represents a 5.1 percent increase compared to 2024, a notable achievement for the industry despite significant losses resulting from the rise in US customs duties.

According to Qatar News Agency, the association identified December as a pivotal month for this growth, during which exports surged by 10.6 percent to reach EUR 20.4 billion. Notably, for the first time in an extended period, the growth rate of imports for electrical and digital goods during that month was lower than the growth rate of exports.

Despite the overall record, the industry faced challenges in its two largest markets. Exports to the United States declined by 3 percent over the year to total EUR 24.1 billion, while exports to China reached EUR 23.5 billion, reflecting a 6.2 percent decrease compared to 2024.

In contrast, European nations dominated the remaining positions among the top ten importers of German electrical and digital products, with all countries in this group recording growth. The Netherlands ranked as the third-largest importer with a 7.3 percent increase to EUR 15.9 billion, followed closely by France, which imported goods valued at EUR 15.8 billion.
