Germany: Germany's Economy Minister and Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck has appealed to citizens to keep faith in the country's democracy, despite the current political crisis. According to Qatar News Agency, Habeck, a key Green Party member, emphasized the resilience of the nation in a statement released by his ministry on X on Wednesday. "Do not doubt the strength of this country. We have overcome completely different challenges," said Habeck. He further reassured the public by drawing attention to past successes, stating, "We have solved completely different problems. Do not doubt democracy," as quoted by the German news agency, dpa. The political upheaval follows Chancellor Olaf Scholz's decision to fire Christian Lindner, who was serving as the finance minister. Subsequently, Lindner, the leader of the pro-business Free Democrats, resigned from the government. In the wake of these developments, Scholz has called for a confidence vote scheduled for January 15, which could potentially lead to early elect ions.
