Doha: Germany's annual inflation rate fell to 1.9 percent in February, compared to 2.1 percent in the previous month. According to Qatar News Agency, the German Federal Statistical Office stated in a press release Friday that the country's annual inflation rate reached 1.9 percent this month, based on the preliminary estimate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI). In January, the rate was recorded at 2.1 percent. The statement also highlighted that the CPI rose by 0.2 percent month-on-month compared to January 2026, indicating a slight increase in the overall price level. Furthermore, it noted that core inflation, excluding energy and food prices, reached 2.5 percent year-on-year. This suggests continued underlying price pressures in certain sectors despite the overall decline. Meanwhile, the Harmonized Index of European Consumer Prices (HICP), used for comparisons within the Eurozone and for monetary policy purposes, recorded an annual increase of 2 percent and a monthly increase of 0.3 percent. The Federal Statistical Office indicated that these figures represent preliminary estimates based on data from the federal states, with final, detailed results to be released in the coming days.
