GTA Engages in Key Discussions at GCC Tax Administrations Meeting

Manama: Chaired by HE President of the General Tax Authority (GTA) Khalifa bin Jassim Al Jaham Al Kuwari, the GTA participated virtually in the 16th meeting of the Committee of Heads and Directors of Tax Administrations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting, held in Bahrain, focused on key developments and challenges related to tax policies and procedures in the region. The heads of tax authorities from member states explored avenues for enhancing cooperation and coordination in exchanging expertise and best practices in taxation.

The discussions included updates on the implementation of unified agreements related to indirect taxes and examined ways to develop technical systems that support electronic connectivity among GCC tax authorities. The meeting also addressed the need to update tax legislation and expand training and capacity-building for national cadres, aiming to improve performance and efficiency in implementing tax systems.

At the meeting's conclusion, it was emphasized that GCC countries are committed to joint coordination, strengthening economic integration, and reinforcing principles of fairness and transparency in tax policies. These efforts are seen as vital to supporting sustainable development across the Gulf region.
