Doha: Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) will launch a new season of its Qalam literary series on September 23, continuing its mission to promote cultural dialogue and inspire emerging writers and storytellers in Qatar and beyond.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qalam has become a key literary platform in the region, known for hosting globally acclaimed authors, including Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners, and fostering conversations at the intersection of literature, politics, and shared human experiences.

The season will open with a public conversation at the university's auditorium featuring British-Palestinian novelist Isabella Hammad, widely regarded as one of the most influential literary voices of her generation. She will be joined by British author and GU-Q writer-in-residence Kamila Shamsie.

Hammad's work explores themes of exile, colonial legacy, and memory, offering a deeply human and intellectually rich lens that transcends political statements and academic reports.

A separate session with Kamila Shamsie is scheduled for September 24, adding to the program's continued commitment to thoughtful literary exchange.
