Gulf Club Champions League: Al Rayyan Faces Yemen’s Tadhamon Hadhramaut Tomorrow

Al wakrah: Al Rayyan will face Yemen's Tadhamon Hadhramaut Wednesday, in the fifth round of Group B matches at the Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium in Al Wakrah. Al Rayyan secured a resounding 5-0 victory over Tadhamon Hadramout in the first-leg encounter, which took place last October at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium. According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari side is aiming to solidify its lead in the group having collected six points from four matches so far. Meanwhile, the Yemeni team sits third with four points and is seeking to keep its qualification hopes alive. Al Rayyan are keen to deliver a strong performance following their 3-3 draw against Qatar SC in the 15th round of the Qatari league. Head coach, Artur Jorge, has been working to reinforce the team's strengths and address weaknesses in order to achieve the desired result in this Gulf encounter, where a victory would secure their qualification for the semi-finals. The team will rely on several key players, most notably Brazilian winger Roger Guedes, the current top scorer of the Qatari league with 16 goals, as well as Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has recovered from injury and is ready to return to action. For their part, the Yemeni team understands that only a positive result will keep them in contention for the semifinals, which requires a strong effort to claim all three points. The Yemeni side, runners-up in last season's domestic league, is counting on a group of players such as Radhawan Al Hubaishi, Nader Sahl, Omar Al Joulan, and Gabonese striker Paul Ilonzi. The Gulf Champions League, held under the auspices of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF), stipulates that the top two teams from each group qualify for the semifinals, which will be played over two legs. The Iraqi club Duhok won the inaugural edition of the tournament in its new format last season, defeating Kuwait's Al Qadsia in the final.
