GWC Secures MEED’s ‘Project of Year’ Award for Wastewater Treatment

Doha: Gulf Warehousing Company Q.P.S.C (GWC), recognized as Qatar's leading logistics services provider, has been awarded the National Winner for Qatar in the wastewater treatment sector for its sewage water treatment plant situated in the GWC Bu Sulba Warehousing Park.

According to Qatar News Agency, the award was announced during the 15th edition of the annual MEED Projects Awards, which is organized in collaboration with Mashreq Bank. With this accolade, GWC now qualifies for the regional stage of the competition, where the MENA winners will be declared on November 19, 2025, as noted in a statement from GWC on Saturday.

GWC Group Managing Director, HE Sheikh Abdulla Bin Fahad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al-Thani, expressed the company's honor in receiving the MEED Projects Award at the national level. He highlighted that this recognition places GWC among a distinguished lineup of leading infrastructure projects across the Middle East and North Africa. The recognition underscores the quality of the project and the dedicated efforts toward developing sustainable infrastructure that aligns with Qatar's development goals, particularly the Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030.

Matthew Kearns, GWC's Acting Group CEO, noted that this marks the second award for the Sewage Treatment Plant at GWC Bu Sulba Warehousing Park in a few months, following its recognition in November 2024 as the 'Best Water Recycling Initiative' at the Tarsheed Energy Efficiency Forum. This forum is organized by Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) under its National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed). Kearns emphasized that this achievement highlights the project's significance and serves as motivation for GWC to continue advancing sustainable infrastructure and driving growth-oriented projects.

The annual MEED Projects Awards in association with Mashreq represent the highest level of recognition for outstanding projects in the Middle East and North Africa. The awards focus on innovation, sustainability, and positive community impact, serving as a benchmark for excellence in the region. This year, 87 projects across 17 categories were shortlisted through a rigorous judging process, emphasizing engineering brilliance, technological innovation, sustainable practices, and significant societal benefits.
