Doha: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, through its Hajj and Umrah Affairs Department, has announced an extension for the registration period for the Hajj season of 1447 AH until November 15. This announcement allows prospective pilgrims additional time to complete their registration via the Ministry's official website, hajj.gov.qa.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ali bin Sultan Al Misifri, Director of Awqaf's Hajj and Umrah Affairs Department, stated that the extension was prompted by the significant public response to the early registration campaign launched earlier in October. He noted that the high turnout reflects both the eagerness of individuals to fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam and their trust in the services and organization provided by the Qatari Hajj Mission.
Al Misifri highlighted the necessity of obtaining a medical fitness certificate before registration, as this is a requirement set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to ensure pilgrims' health and safety. This certificate must be accredited by health centers across the country. Additionally, he clarified that the initial payment of QR 10,000 made through the electronic system is an advance payment deducted from the total Hajj trip cost, rather than a registration fee.
The Director confirmed that there are 27 licensed and approved Hajj campaigns for the season, and he urged potential registrants to reach out to the Hajj and Umrah Affairs Department for any inquiries or complaints via the hotline (132). He also mentioned that Qatar's Hajj quota for this year is 4,400 pilgrims. Coordination with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is underway to ensure the smooth organization of pilgrim journeys and the provision of the best possible services for Qatari pilgrims.
