Doha: Hamas has received a proposal from the United States, indicating Washington's commitment to end the ongoing war in Gaza.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson highlighted the recent phone conversation held by US President Donald Trump with both the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and the Prime Minister of Israel. The call was part of the American efforts to mitigate the fallout from the Israeli aggression on a residential neighborhood in Doha on September 9.
During this telephonic interaction, the Qatari Prime Minister expressed gratitude towards the US President for his continuous efforts to establish peace in the region. This includes assurances of non-recurrence of aggression against Qatar and reaffirmation of the US commitment to its defense partnership with the country. The Israeli Prime Minister also apologized for the attack, which resulted in the death of Qatari citizen Badr Al Dosari, and vowed to prevent further violations of Qatari sovereignty.
The Qatari Prime Minister further affirmed the country's readiness to support efforts to end the war, contingent on the guarantees provided within the framework of the US President's peace initiative. Qatar has consistently advocated for resolving crises through diplomatic means, aligning with its role in promoting regional peace and stability.
Following the US President's announcement of a regional peace plan, a joint statement was issued by the Foreign Ministers of Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, welcoming the US efforts to bring an end to the war in Gaza.
In related developments, Qatar participated in several engagements at the United Nations, attending 35 events and meetings across Gulf, Arab, and global levels. Notable among these was the participation of the Qatari Prime Minister in the Coordinating Ministerial Meeting of GCC Foreign Ministers and a joint ministerial meeting with GCC countries and the United States.
Additional highlights include Qatar's participation in various other international meetings, such as those concerning humanitarian efforts, development, and peacebuilding initiatives. Notably, Doha also hosted the third round of political consultations between Qatar and Romania, reflecting its active role in international diplomacy.
