Doha: In collaboration with Qatar University and Texas A and M University in Qatar, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) organized the 14th edition of the Materials Science and Engineering Forum, with support from Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO).
According to Qatar News Agency, the forum saw the participation of more than 190 experts and specialists from Qatar and across the globe. Participants included representatives from academic institutions, research centers, the industrial sector, government entities, and undergraduate and graduate students.
The event was held under the theme "Advancing Resilient and Sustainable Materials Through Technological Innovation," focusing on the latest advancements in materials engineering and related technologies. It emphasized the role of these innovations in supporting economic diversification efforts, in line with Qatar's Third National Development Strategy.
Keynote speeches, industrial presentations, and research contributions from university students and alumni were featured at the forum. A panel discussion explored ways to enhance collaboration among stakeholders to advance sustainable and resilient materials fields.
The forum also hosted presentations and discussions addressing challenges faced by students and researchers, and showcased technological innovations from Qatari companies. The event concluded with an open discussion session, expert feedback, and an awards ceremony.
Dr. Mounir Hamdi, Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at HBKU, highlighted that over the past fourteen years, the forum has attracted leading academics, students, and professionals to discuss crucial topics contributing to development in Qatar and beyond. He noted the productive discussions and innovative projects at the current edition, emphasizing the importance of integrating resilience and sustainability in materials development. Dr. Hamdi expressed gratitude to Qatar University and Texas A and M University in Qatar for their collaboration in organizing the forum and affirmed HBKU's commitment to hosting future editions of this annual event.
