Head of Palestinian NCAG Calls for Adherence to Ceasefire, Civilian Protection

Gaza: Head of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), Ali Shaath, has called for adherence to the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip immediately, stressing that the people of Gaza have paid a heavy price and deserve a dignified life in a secure and tranquil environment.

According to Qatar News Agency, as NCAG prepares to assume its operations on the ground, it calls for preventing the occurrence of such tragic acts and ensuring civilians are protected, while contributions proceed to restore security and stability in the Gaza enclave, Shaath noted.

He stressed that the future pathway should be based on full respect for civilian lives and on working to consolidate the foundations of peace, stability, and prosperity for the Gaza Strip.

As part of their persistent breaches of the ceasefire accord, the Israeli occupation forces on Saturday unleashed intense airstrikes on homes, tents, residential high-rises, and a police station in many parts of the Gaza enclave, resulting in 31 Palestinian fatalities and dozens of injuries.

Notwithstanding the entry of the second phase of the ceasefire into effect, however, the Israeli violations of this agreement continue, with the Israeli occupation conducting airstrikes, artillery shelling, and cascades of fire from armored vehicles and quadcopters, as well as razing civilian homes.

These attacks have killed and injured hundreds of Palestinians, whose number is added to the hundreds of thousands of fatalities, injuries, missing, and displaced due to the Israeli onslaught that has been ongoing in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023.
