Health Minister, Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, has congratulated the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al-Jalahma, on being granted the Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
WHO Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, presented the award to Dr. Al-Jalahma during a ceremony held today on the sidelines of the 76th World Health Assembly, in the presence of the WHA President, health ministers and heads of delegations.
The Minister of Health affirmed that Dr. Al-Jalahma’s success in winning the high-level award was in recognition of her efforts in the field of health promotion over the past 30 years.
She expressed Bahrain’s pride in its distinguished national competencies who are exerting pioneering efforts in various fields, particularly health.
Established in 2019, the Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion is awarded to person (s) or institution(s), governmental or non-governmental organisations or organizations, who have made a significant contribution to health promotion that extend far beyond the call of normal duties.
