Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warned today of the discontinuation of healthcare services at Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza's Khan Younis, the last remaining advanced medical facility that operates in south of the Gaza enclave. In a statement, MSF added that following the closure of the Gaza's European Hospital in the Palestinian enclave due to the Israeli evacuation orders early July, it had given heads-up that Nasser Medical Complex could have been overwhelmed because of the substantial number of traumas. MSF highlighted that its personnel are facing severe shortages of medical and fuel supplies, a situation that threatens to bring the fundamental available healthcare services to a halt, pointing out that the complex is the last advanced hospital operating in the south of Gaza. The organization underlined that Nasser Medical Complex receives an increasing number of patients every day, thus putting massive burden on all departments beyond their capacity, adding that its teams have no choice but to resort t o the medical inventory designated for emergency cases. It highlighted that while Nasser Hospital deals with the influx of new patients, it simultaneously suffers from fuel shortages. If electricity supply is disrupted due to fuel shortages, the care provided in many nearby field hospitals will cease, MSF noted. Source: Qatar News Agency
