China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) said on Sunday that heavy rains will hit many parts of the country's northern and southern regions over the next three days. Some areas in Hebei, Shandong, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia provinces will witness heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm, Xinhua reported. Rainstorms are expected to hit coastal areas in southern China, with Guangdong Province facing the worst impact today, according to the NMC. Early today, the NMC renewed a blue alert, the lowest level in China's four-tier severe weather warning system, for rainstorms, urging people to avoid dangerous locations as heavy rains could lead to water pooling in urban areas and flash floods in mountainous areas.
