Doha: Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF), attended a celebration marking the 20th anniversary of Georgetown University in Qatar as a partner in Education City. The event highlighted two decades of collaboration and success between the institutions.
According to Qatar News Agency, Georgetown University and Qatar Foundation signed an agreement to renew their partnership for another ten years. The agreement was signed by Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, and Georgetown University Interim President Robert M. Groves.
During the event, Her Highness emphasized the importance of the partnership in promoting cross-cultural understanding and collaboration. She stated, "Qatar Foundation is committed to forging a path that leads to cross-cultural understanding, respect, and collaboration, a commitment that is shared by Georgetown University. Together we will inspire and nurture those who will have the courage to build bridges between nations and lead our world into a better future."
Her Highness was honored with the Georgetown University President's Medal, recognizing her leadership and service in advancing the university's goals of peace, social justice, and international collaboration. Interim President Groves remarked, "The President's Medal is one of the highest distinctions conferred by Georgetown. It is reserved for individuals whose contributions reflect the university's deepest commitments, and it is a privilege to present it to Her Highness."
Dean Safwan M. Masri of Georgetown University in Qatar expressed that the university feels honored by Her Highness's vision and leadership, which has guided the institution's growth in Qatar. The renewed agreement signifies a new chapter in the partnership, focusing on advancing knowledge and education at both national and global levels.
Her Excellency Sheikha Hind reaffirmed the success and impact of the partnership, noting, "The longevity, impact, and success of our partnership with Georgetown University is a testament to collective vision, and a shared belief in what knowledge makes possible."
Georgetown University in Qatar offers a Bachelor's of Science in Foreign Service degree with specializations in various fields. The university also provides an Executive Masters in Diplomacy and International Affairs. The institution has seen significant growth since its establishment in 2005, with nearly 1,100 graduates to date.
As Qatar Foundation celebrates its 30th anniversary, the partnership with Georgetown University continues to play a crucial role in educating future leaders and supporting development both locally and regionally. The ongoing collaboration aims to build upon the achievements of the past two decades.
