His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, attended the distribution ceremony of the 2023 Para Sport Awards, held on Wednesday at the Art Hotel and Resort, Bahrain.
The ceremony, devoted to recognising and honouring the outstanding performances and achievements of Para athletes, teams, and other individuals and organisations, was held ahead of the 2023 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) General Assembly and Conference, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, GSA Deputy Chairman, Andrew Parsons, IPC President, Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Bahrain Paralympic Committee President, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Chief Executive Officer of GSA, senior sports personalities and guests, were present.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad stated that paralympic games enjoy the great interest of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as that His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs.
His Highness affirmed that the kingdom’s hosting of IPC General Assembly and the distribution ceremony of the 2023 Para Sport Awards confirms its support for para sports, citing the multiple achievements of Bahrain’s paralympic athletes.
“The hosting of the two major Paralympic events confirms our constant keenness to support all Paralympic sports, and give people of determination more support, in line with HM the Kin’s directives,” His Highness said.
HH Shaikh Khalid expressed thanks to IPC for its confidence in Bahrain’s ability to host its General Assembly and distribution ceremony of the 2023 Para Sport Awards, which consolidates the kingdom’s status and weight at the level of the international Paralympic movement, wishing everyone success.
HH Shaikh Khalid then honoured top-achieving Paralympic athletes.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad for attending and supporting the major Paralympic event, commending the efforts exerted by the Bahrain Paralympic Committee President to ensure the success of the two IPC events.
IPC President praised the ongoing cooperation between IPC and the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, led by Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij, to hold IPC General Assembly and Conference in the kingdom, hailing Bahrain’s wide-ranging sports achievements.
He indicated that IPC’s conference had achieved outstanding success thanks to the dedication of BPC and its partners.
