Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held an official talks session with HE Prime Minister of Canada Dr. Mark Carney at the Amiri Diwan. The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for cooperation between Qatar and Canada across various sectors.
According to Qatar News Agency, the talks commenced with HH the Amir extending a warm welcome to the Canadian Prime Minister and his delegation, expressing hope that the visit would enhance bilateral cooperation. His Highness emphasized the importance of the visit in strengthening the relationship between the two countries and wished for continued progress in Qatari-Canadian relations.
HE the Canadian Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the hospitality and reiterated Canada's commitment to deepening ties with Qatar. He highlighted the importance of collaboration in fields such as economy, investment, defense, security, education, and health, and discussed ways to promote peace and stability in the region.
The session was attended by prominent officials from both countries. On the Qatari side, key attendees included HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, and several other senior officials. The Canadian delegation included HE Minister of Industry Melanie Joly, HE Minister of Finance Francois-Philippe Champagne, and other high-ranking officials.
Following the talks, a bilateral meeting was held to discuss issues of mutual interest. HH the Amir also hosted a luncheon in honor of the Canadian Prime Minister and his delegation. An official reception ceremony was conducted upon the Prime Minister's arrival at the Amiri Diwan.
