Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani was present at the 9th edition of the Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence (ACE) Award ceremony held at Katara Hall in the Fairmont and Raffles Hotels in Doha. The event took place on Sunday morning.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ceremony was attended by notable figures including HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani; HE Speaker of the Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim; HE President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino; and a host of ministers, diplomatic mission heads accredited to Qatar, and other high-ranking officials and distinguished guests.
The ceremony featured a film that showcased the award's history and its role in countering corruption. It highlighted the efforts of the award winners, who presented exemplary models and demonstrated leadership, innovation, and dedication in combating corruption.
HH the Amir presented awards to Professor Nikos Passas and Dr. Marianne Camerer for Academic Research and Educational Materials, and to Gloria Pallares-Venials, Tatenda Chitagu, and Andiswa Matekenka for Innovation and Investigative Journalism. Mar Niang and Motiullah Wesa were honored for Youth Creativity and Engagement, while Drago Kos and Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili received the Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Achievement Award.
During the event, HE Acting Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, John Brandolino, and HE Acting Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism at the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, Alexandre Zouev, delivered remarks. HE Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Award, Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri, also addressed the audience.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Higher Committee for the Award, the Award Advisory Committee, the Executive Committee, and the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption, alongside numerous international researchers specialized in the field.
