Humanitarian Situation in Gaza Strip Declared in State of Complete Collapse

Gaza: The Government Media Office in Gaza announced Wednesday that the humanitarian situation has entered a state of complete collapse in the Gaza Strip due to the systematic blockade and starvation policy imposed by the Israeli occupation forces on civilians, and their prevention of the entry of humanitarian aid and fuel.

According to Qatar News Agency, the office stressed in a statement that the Gaza Strip is experiencing a real humanitarian catastrophe and a clear famine in which hunger directly threatens the lives of civilians, especially children suffering from severe malnutrition. It emphasized that scenes of long queues in front of the remaining food distribution points have become a tragic daily scene in all governorates of the Gaza Strip, in light of the occupation's targeting of more than 37 aid distribution centers and 28 food banks, which were bombed and put out of service as part of a systematic plan to impose a policy of starvation as a tool of war against civilians.

The statement considered what is happening in Gaza not a temporary crisis, but rather an organized starvation crime that amounts to war crimes, perpetrated by the occupying forces with international complicity and silence, particularly from countries that provide political and military cover for the occupation's perpetration of the genocide currently being perpetrated against the residents of the Gaza Strip.

The office noted that service and humanitarian facilities are on the verge of complete collapse, with hospitals operating at limited capacity and without medicine or fuel. It is likely that all hospitals will cease operations within the next two weeks due to the lack of fuel supplies.

It was stated that bakeries have ceased operations due to a lack of flour or operating sources, and that water stations have stopped pumping due to fuel shortages and the deliberate cutting off of electricity, especially to desalination plants. The office called for urgent international action to halt the crime of genocide and ethnic cleansing, and to pressure the occupation to end the unjust blockade of the Gaza Strip, open the crossings, and allow the entry of humanitarian aid and fuel without restrictions, in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law.

It is worth noting that the Israeli occupation continues to impose an unprecedented blockade on the Gaza Strip for the 18th consecutive year. Approximately 2.4 million Palestinians in the Strip have become homeless after their homes were destroyed in the war of extermination. Meanwhile, the Strip has entered a state of famine due to the occupation's closure of the crossings to the entry of humanitarian aid, especially since the resumption of its aggression on the Strip on Mar. 18, amid international and UN warnings of a worsening humanitarian catastrophe there.
