IBSF General Assembly in Doha Awards India Hosting Rights for 2026 World Cup

Doha: The International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) has awarded India the hosting rights for the 2026 Snooker World Cup, coinciding with the centenary of the Indian Billiards and Snooker Federation. The decision underscores the sport's global cooperation and historical ties between national federations. According to Qatar News Agency, the announcement was made during the IBSF General Assembly held in Doha on the sidelines of the ongoing Snooker World Championship. The event, hosted by the Qatar Billiard Sports Federation, saw the participation of delegates from 31 countries. The assembly also ratified the appointment of Poland's Viktoria Jadroszyk as Events Director, highlighting diversity and professionalism within the federation's leadership. During the meeting, members approved the 2024 minutes, reviewed progress, and discussed strategic plans for future development in technical and administrative areas. IBSF President Mubarak Al Khayarin commended Qatar for its exceptional organization of both the championship and the General Assembly. He emphasized Doha's role as a hub for international sporting events and as a permanent platform for shaping the future of snooker and billiards. Qatar Billiard Sports Federation President Mohammed Al Ramzani expressed pride in Qatar's organizational success and reiterated the country's commitment to hosting more international events.
