Baku: The 2nd International Youth Forum on Multiculturalism commenced Saturday in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event is organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in partnership with the Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC). According to Qatar News Agency, the forum, themed "Youth as Ambassadors of Peacebuilding in a Multicultural Environment," has attracted approximately 70 young participants from over 50 countries. The five-day event aims to promote multicultural values, encourage intercultural dialogue, and enhance interfaith understanding. The event is held in coordination with the ICESCO Regional Office in Baku and in collaboration with the African Union Migration Observatory and the Nordic Center for Conflict Transformation. It features panel discussions, interactive sessions, and training activities designed to educate participants on enhancing youth leadership and engagement in peacebuilding initiatives. The program's primary goal is to cultivat e a generation committed to a culture of peace, tolerance, and coexistence. It also seeks to celebrate and protect cultural diversity and highlight reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan's liberated historical territories. In his opening remarks, Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of BIMC, emphasized the forum's focus on empowering young people to achieve peace in their communities and foster intercultural dialogue and understanding. Dr. Dinara Guliyeva, Head of the Human Development Division in the Social and Human Sciences Sector at ICESCO, underscored the importance of advancing youth capabilities through education, culture, sciences, and innovation. She noted the event as part of the productive partnership between ICESCO and Azerbaijan. The forum's themes highlight the importance of providing a global platform to enhance cooperation among young people in various fields, support innovation, and advance community development.
