Doha: The first round of the third Al Shaqab National Show Jumping League, organized by Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, at the Longines Indoor Arena, wrapped up Saturday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the league featured four main categories, starting with the Future Champions (110-115 cm), where Mohammed Faisal Al Merri clinched both first and second place on different horses, while Noura Abdulaziz Al Rumaihi finished third. The winners were crowned by tournament director Khaled Sand Al Nuaimi.
In the Junior Champions category (120-125 cm), Haya Khaled Al Hatmi took first place, followed by Abdulaziz Saud Fakhro in second, and Suhaim Hamad Al Yafei in third. Winners were awarded by Director of Equestrian Education at Al Shaqab, Mohammed Jaber Al Khawarin.
The Youth Champions (130-135 cm) saw Khaled Al Hadi topping the podium, Ibrahim Yousuf Al Mahmoud in second, and Fares Saad Al Qahtani in third. Prizes were presented by Karam Saeed Al Rashdi, member of the judging panel.
The competition concluded with the Al Shaqab Champions (135-145 cm), where Saad Ahmed Al Saad secured both first and third positions on separate horses, while Saeed Nasser Al Qadi took second place, marking him among the standout riders of this round.
These categories reflected a new generation of riders demonstrating high technical skill, sharp focus, and exceptional harmony with their horses. This round delivered significant achievements and showcased a generation ready to take on the mantle of future equestrian sports in Qatar.
The event showcased discipline, dedication, and relentless spirit, with the emergence of champions in every sense of the word, said Al Khawarin. The second round of the league is set for Dec. 26-27, continuing the fierce pursuit of this season title.
