Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, headed Bahrain’s delegation in the fifth Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Standardisation Affairs.
He affirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation partnership with the standardisation bodies in the GCC countries.
Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, GCC Secretary General, and the GCC Ministers of Industry attended the meeting.
The minister noted that the gains and advantages that come through integration in various areas of standardisation would contribute to supporting the Gulf economy by emphasising the importance of imported and exported products that meet technical requirements and smart conformity assessment procedures, which preserve human health and safety and protect the environment.
It also contributes to facilitating intra-trade procedures between the GCC countries, and streamlining the passage of commercial products while following international laws and regulations.
