General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communications Technology (ICT), chaired the committee’s meeting.
The minister said the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has driven efforts to continue developing government performance and provide the best services, noting the role of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in implementing this development.
The meeting approved the minutes of the previous meeting and followed up on the decisions issued.
The committee discussed the digital transformation of government services during the first half of 2023, which included the provision of 618 electronic services, as the use of electronic services reached 90%.
The meeting was briefed on the final report on using artificial intelligence technologies and their impact on society, which included a study of areas of uses, risks, and adverse effects. The briefing also underlined the importance of developing AI related legislation, supporting research and development and investing in AI technology.
The meeting reviewed the launching of Bahrain's open data portal and the development of the online commercial registration portal "Sijilat" and other government services; in addition to the progress in the development of government services and restructuring their procedures.
The committee also discussed launching a programme to recognise outstanding government employees in terms of customer services to, gauge customer satisfaction and motivate employees.
