Nasiriyah: The Iraqi Dhi Qar Oil Company has announced a substantial increase in oil production at the Nasiriyah field, with output rising from 52,000 barrels per day to 90,000 barrels per day. This development is intended to support national crude oil production and enhance the Ministry of Oil's objectives to expand production capacity.
According to Qatar News Agency, the company attributed this boost in production to ongoing technical and engineering efforts. These efforts include upgrades to the oil field's infrastructure, improvements in the efficiency of operating wells, and the implementation of modern technologies that have facilitated increased production rates.
The company also disclosed that a new exploratory well is being drilled in the Abu al Khaimah oil field, along with the drilling of an oil well in the al Bathaa field within the exploration area. The aim is to evaluate oil reservoirs and augment reserves, ensuring sustainable production over the medium and long term.
In addition, a strategic plan has been established to drill 20 oil wells in the next phase. This includes 10 wells in the Subba oil field and another 10 in the Nasiriyah oil field, as part of a comprehensive development program designed to boost production capacity and meet the rising demand for crude oil.
Regarding associated gas, the company emphasized its commitment to fully utilizing all produced associated gas and minimizing waste through projects that collect and process the gas to integrate it into the national grid. It highlighted that increasing associated gas production supports the oil and gas production system and reduces flaring.
The Nasiriyah field, located in Dhi Qar Governorate, is a key oil field in southern Iraq and plays a strategic role in the energy sector.
