Doha: Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammed Shia Al Sudani, and French President, Emmanuel Macron, discussed developments in the region, over the phone.
According to Qatar News Agency, the two sides discussed a range of topics of mutual interest.
It added that Iraq and France share the same view concerning the political process in Syria, and that they stressed the importance of maintaining Lebanon's stability, in addition to strengthening efforts to rebuild Gaza, uphold the truce, and prevent any escalation that might arise as a result of non-compliance with it.
During the call, the Iraqi Premier stressed his country's eagerness to enhance bilateral ties with France and to continue to cooperate on various fields, especially economically and culturally.
In turn, the French President underscored France's desire to carry on with bilateral cooperation in various fields, asserting his country's readiness to work with Iraq on combating terrorism, considering that it is a global challenge and a threat both locally and regionally.
