Iraqi Prime Minister Declares Babil as Industrial Capital

Babil: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani on Monday designated Babil Province as the Industrial Capital of Iraq, citing its strategic location as a key factor behind the decision.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Sudani highlighted in his speech that Babil, known for its civilization and history, now carries the title of Industrial Capital of Iraq. He emphasized that the province has unique advantages that facilitate the integration of agriculture and industry, supported by a bold and capable private sector capable of establishing factories to produce goods for export to neighboring countries.

The Prime Minister further mentioned that various projects are being planned and implemented as part of this new industrial hub. This initiative is aimed at propelling Iraq's industrial sector, with advancements in the production of rebar, sugar, cooking oil, pharmaceuticals, and cement to meet local demand.

In addition to these developments, Al Sudani inaugurated the construction of a 960-ton-per-day plastic granules factory project in Babil Province. This factory, the first of its kind in Iraq, is spearheaded by the private sector.
