Ishiba must now look for additional support outside the coalition to run a stable government, following a deepening distrust in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party due to a slush funds scandal. He had pledged to work to strengthen the national economy, ease the burden of inflation on Japanese families, and strengthen the country's defenses in the face of security challenges, amid speculation that it would be difficult to fulfill his promises due to the critical political situation.
