Japan’s Nikkei Closes at Record High as AI Rally Helps Overcome Early Losses

Doha: Japan's Nikkei share average closed at a record high on Wednesday, fighting back from early losses on optimism buoyed by investments in artificial intelligence.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Nikkei 225 Index rose 0.3% to close at an unprecedented 45,630.31, recovering from earlier session losses as wide as 0.6%. The broader Topix gauge also saw gains, rising by 0.2%.

The session's largest gainers were industrial manufacturer IHI, which saw its shares rise by 9.7%, and SoftBank Group, which experienced a 6% increase. Conversely, the sharpest declines were noted in shares of utility Tokyo Electric Power, which fell by 4.89%, and video game maker Nexon, which decreased by 3.8%.
