Japan’s Nikkei Share Average Drops to Two-Week Low Amid Yen Strength

Tokyo: Japan's Nikkei share average fell to a two-week low on Tuesday, as the yen strengthened. The Nikkei dropped 1.4% to 42,215.57, hitting its lowest level since August 12. The broader Topix slipped 1.19% to 3,068.57, reflecting the overall market downturn.

According to Qatar News Agency, the yen's rise of about 0.4% to 147 yen against the US dollar contributed to the decline in the market. Major companies such as Toyota Motor and Honda Motor experienced losses, with their shares slipping 1.26% and 2.12%, respectively.

Uniqlo brand owner Fast Retailing also saw a decrease of 2% in its share value. Additionally, chip-related heavyweights like Advantest and Tokyo Electron faced declines of 1.15% and 0.3%, respectively, indicating a widespread impact across various sectors.
