Doha: Foreign ministers from Qatar, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Ireland, Libya, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mexico, Pakistan, Oman, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, and Turkiye have expressed their concern over the safety of the "Global Sumud Flotilla," a civil society initiative involving citizens from various countries. In a joint statement, the ministers noted that the "Global Sumud Flotilla" aims to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, raise awareness of the urgent humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people, and call for an end to the war in Gaza. The governments of these countries share these objectives - peace and the provision of humanitarian assistance - while reaffirming their commitment to upholding international law, including international humanitarian law.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministers further called on all parties to refrain from any illegal or violent actions against the fleet and to respect international law and humanitarian law. They also reminded that any violation of international law or human rights involving participants in the fleet, including attacks on vessels in international waters or illegal detention, will result in accountability.
