Joint Statement Highlights Qatar-US Strategic Partnership in Seventh Dialogue

Cairo: The Governments of the State of Qatar and the United States of America released a statement emphasizing the enduring strategic partnership between the two nations following the seventh Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue. The dialogue, held on December 17, 2025, in Washington, D.C., was attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE Secretary of State Marco Rubio, alongside senior officials from both countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, the dialogue underscored the strong ties between Qatar and the US under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President Donald J. Trump. Key topics included enhancing cooperation in peace, security, and investment, with plans for discussions on law enforcement, security cooperation, and cultural ties to continue into early 2026.

HE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani commended President Trump's efforts to end the conflict in Gaza and bring lasting peace to the Middle East. Secretary Rubio, representing President Trump, expressed gratitude to HH the Amir and the Qatari government for their mediating role in the Gaza Peace Plan and other conflict resolutions.

The dialogue also addressed Middle East security, with both leaders supporting initiatives to stabilize Syria, counter terrorism, and boost its economy. Secretary Rubio highlighted the US-Qatari partnership as a model for addressing regional and global challenges, with discussions covering shared priorities in Gaza, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and other regions.

In economic matters, the dialogue recognized the robust economic partnership between Qatar and the US, which continues to fuel growth and foster collaboration in technology and energy. Notable deals include Qatar Airways' acquisition of American-made Boeing aircraft and Qatar's investment in US Company Parsons, supporting numerous jobs in the US.

Defense and security cooperation was reaffirmed, with both countries committed to enhancing regional deterrence and joint defense capabilities. This includes military infrastructure upgrades at Al-Udeid Air Base and the procurement of advanced military equipment by Qatar.

The dialogue also focused on counterterrorism and law enforcement, acknowledging Qatar's role in global counterterrorism efforts. Qatar pledged support for the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup to be hosted by the US, emphasizing security cooperation.

Cultural and educational collaboration was highlighted, with plans for expanded cooperation between Qatar Museums and the Smithsonian Institution. The two countries aim to share best practices in arts and education through a Strategic Dialogue Working Group.

Qatar and the United States reiterated their commitment to their strategic partnership, with plans for continued cooperation on key issues and anticipation for the next Strategic Dialogue in Doha in 2026.
