Doha: The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed strong condemnation of statements made by the Israeli Minister of Communications, who claimed that both banks of the Jordan River are part of what he called the Land of Israel. The ministry described the remarks as provocative and dangerous, warning they threaten regional stability.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement, the ministry also denounced the minister's praise for settlement construction in the E1 area of the occupied West Bank, calling his rhetoric extremist and rooted in delusional ideologies. Spokesperson Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah reaffirmed Jordan's absolute rejection of such inflammatory statements, emphasizing that they will not affect the Kingdom's firm stance in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its call to end war crimes committed against them.
Qudah added that the remarks reflect the Israeli government's growing international isolation and internal crisis, which drives its extremist officials to promote racist and exclusionary ideologies that fuel ongoing conflict in the region. He warned against the continuation of Israeli policies that threaten regional security and violate international law, the UN Charter, and Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which condemns Israeli actions aimed at altering the demographic and legal status of Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.
He also cited the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice affirming the illegality of the occupation and settlement expansion. Qudah renewed the call on the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities by pressuring Israel to halt provocative actions and rhetoric, end its aggression in Gaza and the West Bank, protect the Palestinian people, and ensure their right to establish an independent sovereign state. Accountability for crimes committed against Palestinians was also urged.
