Jordanian and Egyptian Ministers Call for Sustained Gaza Ceasefire

Amman: Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met in Amman with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip. Both ministers underscored the importance of upholding the ceasefire agreement and implementing all items set out in that accord. They agreed on the importance of immediately delivering adequate humanitarian aid to Gaza in an unhindered and sustainable way.

According to Qatar News Agency, both sides underlined the importance of paving the way for the return of the Palestinian National Authority to assume its responsibilities in the enclave, safeguarding the unity of the Palestinian territory between the West Bank and Gaza, and moving ahead toward a concrete political prospect that embodies independent and sovereign Palestinian statehood.

The two ministers reaffirmed their welcome of the formation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), along with the announcement of the initiation of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan and the launch of the Board of Peace by US President Donald Trump.

The ministers reiterated that they are committed to backing the Board of Peace's mission as a transitional authority, as outlined in the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
