Jordanian-Egyptian Consortium Commences LPG Storage Project in Aqaba

Aqaba: The Jordanian Liquefied Gas Company, a subsidiary of Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company Group (JPRC), announced the signing of an agreement with a consortium that includes Jordan National Shipping Lines and Egypt's Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (Petrojet) to design, supply, and construct new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage facilities in South Aqaba.

According to Qatar News Agency, the project involves an investment of 15.5 million Jordanian dinars, approximately USD 22 million, and includes the construction of two spherical LPG storage tanks, each with a capacity of 2,000 metric tons. The implementation period for the project is set for 24 months.

This initiative addresses the increasing demand for LPG in Jordan and aims to bolster the country's energy security by ensuring an uninterrupted supply under all conditions.

JPRC's CEO, Hassan Al Hayari, stated that the project represents a strategic advancement toward developing an integrated system for LPG storage and distribution. He highlighted that it would help lower operational costs related to transporting LPG from Aqaba to various consumption centers throughout Jordan.

Al Hayari also emphasized that the agreement with a Jordanian-Egyptian consortium demonstrates the company's trust in its regional partners and reinforces Arab cooperation in carrying out strategic projects that benefit the Jordanian economy.
