Doha: In collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of El Salvador to Qatar, the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara inaugurated an exhibition for Salvadoran artist Annette Handal titled "Surfed Here: The Journey", which will run until February 28. According to Qatar News Agency, the inauguration ceremony was attended by HE Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador to Qatar, Milton Eduardo Acevedo, and Cultural Village Foundation - Katara General Manager, Prof. Dr. Khaled bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, along with a lineup of Their Excellencies Ambassadors, media representatives, and cultural enthusiasts. In his speech, HE the Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador stressed the importance of the exhibition in strengthening the cultural exchange between Qatar and El Salvador, praising Katara's role in hosting global cultural and artistic events that foster intercultural dialogue. His Excellency also highlighted El Salvador as a global destination for surfing enthusiasts, thanks to its stunning beaches and m agnificent waves. The exhibition presented a series of paintings through which Handal explored surfing as part of El Salvador's cultural and natural heritage. The artist only used black and white in her works to explore the relationship between humans and the ocean, with the aim of underscoring the values that surfing represents, such as freedom, challenge, and connection to nature.
