Kazakhstan’s Rybakina Completes Tokyo Open Semifinals Lineup

Tokyo: Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina completed the lineup of women who qualified for the semifinals of the Tokyo Open after defeating Canada's Victoria Mpoku in straight sets (6-3, 7-6) in today's quarterfinal match.

According to Qatar News Agency, Rybakina will next face Czech Linda Noskova, who also advanced after defeating Russia's Anna Kalinskaya (6-0, 1-0) before the latter retired from the match.

The other semifinal match will be between Swiss Belinda Bencic and American Sofia Kenin. Bencic defeated Czech Karolina Muchova in three sets (3-6, 7-5, 7-5), while Kenin defeated Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova (6-0, 2-6, 7-6).

By qualifying for the semifinals, Rybakina secured the eighth and final spot for the WTA Finals, which will be held in Riyadh from November 1-8. The tournament brings together the top eight players in the world this year: Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, Polish Iga Swiatek, Americans Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula, and Madison Keys, in addition to Italian Jasmine Paolini and Kazakh Elena Rybakina.
