Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan met Wednesday with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his visit to Amman. King Abdullah and Steinmeier discussed avenues for deepening cooperation between the two countries, as well as key developments in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, King Abdullah II of Jordan stressed, during the meeting, the importance of global action to cease escalation in the occupied West Bank, reiterating Jordan's absolute pushback on the Israeli occupation's decisions to take over lands and expand settlements.
He cautioned about the menacing consequences of the persistent violations of the Islamic and Christian sacred places in Jerusalem, which represent a brazen breach of the historic and legal status quo.
King Abdullah further noted that it is imperative to back Syria's efforts in reconstruction and in safeguarding its security, stability, and sovereignty.
