Doha: HH the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, emphasized the need for accelerated economic integration among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states during the 45th Gulf Summit, which is occurring under complex circumstances. According to Qatar News Agency, the Amir of Kuwait, in his opening speech, highlighted the importance of unified policies, diversification of non-traditional income sources, and support for local industries to achieve GCC economic integration. He stressed the necessity of expanding innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly in fields like Artificial Intelligence, to enhance regional and global economic competitiveness. Sheikh Meshal extended gratitude to Qatar's Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, for his leadership during the previous summit in Doha. The Amir reiterated Kuwait's condemnation of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the genocides against Palestinians. He called on the international community, especially the UN Securit y Council, to implement resolutions, halt violence, provide protection for civilians, and ensure humanitarian aid access. Sheikh Meshal reaffirmed Kuwait's support for establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, aligning with international resolutions. Further, the Amir assured support for GCC contributions to regional stability, including Saudi Arabia's leadership in recognizing the State of Palestine and implementing the two-state solution. He acknowledged mediation efforts by Qatar, Egypt, and the US for achieving ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon. Sheikh Meshal also noted Iran's positive gestures towards the GCC and expressed hope for resolving outstanding issues in line with UN principles. Concluding his speech, the Amir committed to advancing joint Gulf actions to realize the aspirations of their people and build a prosperous and stable future.
