According to Qatar News Agency, Barcelona took the lead through Pedri in the 13th minute, but Girona responded quickly with a goal from Axel Witsel in the 20th. The match remained tense until Ronald Araujo netted the winner deep into stoppage time (90+3), sealing the win for the Catalan side.
With the result, Barcelona now sits on 22 points, one ahead of Real Madrid, who dropped to second place ahead of their Sunday fixture against Getafe.
Girona, meanwhile, remains stuck in 19th place, second from bottom, with just six points.
