Doha: Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Saeed bin Smaikh Al Marri emphasized Qatar's strong belief in the private sector as a crucial partner in its development journey and a key pillar in constructing diversified and inclusive economies. According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Marri made this statement during his participation in the Private Sector Forum, organized by the United Nations and the International Organization of Employers. This event was held on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha. The forum gathered leaders of major global corporations, representatives of international organizations, policymakers, and regional and international financial and development institutions.
The forum's discussions centered on the business sector's role as a catalyst for social development. It highlighted the sector's potential to create decent jobs, reduce inequality, stimulate inclusive and sustainable growth, and enhance human capital. Dr. Al Marri stated that the Private Sector Forum is a vital global platform for discussing the growing role of the private sector in supporting inclusive and sustainable development goals.
He also noted that hosting the forum in Doha demonstrates Qatar's unwavering commitment to collective international efforts for achieving social development. Qatar has adopted a comprehensive approach rooted in Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritizes human development.
The Minister highlighted that the Ministry of Labour has implemented pioneering legislative and institutional reforms to develop labour systems, inspection, and occupational safety mechanisms. These reforms also aim to strengthen social dialogue and expand vocational training and qualification programs to achieve decent work for all.
Dr. Al Marri mentioned that innovative national initiatives have been launched to promote private sector participation in social development.
