Moscow, The Russian President's special envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, has affirmed that the United States is escalating terrorist activity in al-Tanf region in Syria. 'There is a surge in terrorist activity in some Syrian territories, but I would like to stress that the main source of terrorist activity is currently located in al-Tanf, controlled by the United States, where the Rukban camp for temporarily displaced persons is located, which the US stubbornly refuses to dismantle,' Lavrentiev said in an interview with TASS. 'Active training of Daesh 'ISIS' terrorists and other armed groups continues there. They are then sent on certain missions to Syrian territory. This is the main source of terrorist activity,' Lavrentiev continued. In addition, Lavrentiev said: Moscow will host the next summit related to Syria between the guarantor states (Russia, Turkey, and Iran). He added: 'The decision to hold a new summit was taken in 2022, and there were certain preconditions for holding such a meeting at the end of 2023, but the situation in the Gaza Strip confused everything and other issues emerged that required rapid intervention.'
