Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has reiterated his country's support for Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence. The Russian foreign minister's stance was expressed in a message addressed to the organizers and guests of a round table held by the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Syrian Embassy in Moscow on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. 'The Russian Federation has always supported the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of the Syrian Arab Republic, and we firmly support the right of the Syrian people to decide their own destiny without any interference from outside, as stipulated by the UN Security Council resolutions,' the head of Russian diplomacy said. Lavrov added that 'Moscow and Damascus closely coordinate their actions on all basic issues of the international agenda.'
