Beirut: Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati emphasized the urgent need for international intervention to halt the Israeli entity's aggression and to protect civilians, medical personnel, and ambulance crews from being targeted. Mikati's call to action was made during a speech, where he highlighted the international community's responsibility due to its silence on the ongoing situation in Lebanon. He urged that global pressure be exerted on the Israeli entity to cease its aggressive actions. According to Qatar News Agency, Mikati underscored Lebanon's commitment to Resolution 1701 and the strengthening of its army in the southern region. He welcomed all international positions advocating for a ceasefire, despite the Israeli entity's rejection of proposed solutions. Mikati reiterated the Lebanese government's demand for an end to the aggression as a precursor to implementing Resolution 1701 without alterations. Mikati detailed the escalation of Israeli aggression since October 2023, which has inten sified since late September with unprecedented aerial and artillery bombardments extending to Beirut. This escalation has resulted in thousands of Lebanese casualties and injuries, as well as the displacement of over a million people from their homes.
