Lebanese PM and Arab League Secretary-General Focus on Lebanon’s Challenges and Regional Issues

Beirut: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit engaged in discussions on the latest developments affecting Lebanon and the broader region during their meeting on Monday. Both leaders emphasized Lebanon's enduring connections with the Arab world and highlighted the importance of Arab support in helping Lebanon navigate its ongoing crises.

According to Qatar News Agency, the conversation underscored Lebanon's commitment to implementing a reform program, asserting sovereignty over its entire territory, advocating for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, and enabling the Lebanese state to exercise full authority. The discussions also extended to the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip. The leaders stressed the urgency of ending Israeli aggression and continuing Arab efforts, in collaboration with international powers, to uphold the resolutions of the 2002 Arab League Summit in Beirut, which advocated for a two-state solution.
