Lebanese President Engages IMF for Reforms Amid Israeli Violations

Doha: Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday announced that discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have commenced to evaluate the steps essential for implementing reforms.

According to Qatar News Agency, during a meeting with French Presidential Envoy to Lebanon, Jean-Yves Le Drian, President Aoun emphasized that forthcoming administrative measures are intended to project affirmative signals both within the country and to the international community. The president reaffirmed his commitment to overcoming potential hurdles in reforming Lebanon's economic, financial, judicial, and administrative sectors.

Furthermore, Aoun underscored the government's prioritization of rebuilding towns and villages ravaged by Israeli bombardment during the recent conflict. He brought attention to Israel's persistent violations in southern Lebanon, which contravene the agreement reached in November. These violations include the continued occupation of five strategic hills and the ongoing detention of Lebanese individuals captured during the hostilities.

President Aoun insisted on the importance of pressuring Israel to adhere to the agreement's terms, stressing that the cessation of hostilities and the restoration of stability are crucial for the region.
