Beirut: Lebanon and Jordan have signed 21 agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors. The agreements were signed following the eighth session of the Lebanese-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee, which was held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Wednesday. The meeting was co-chaired by Lebanon's Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and his Jordanian counterpart, Jaafar Hassan.

According to Qatar News Agency, the deals cover economic, industrial, and investment cooperation, as well as consumer protection, digital transformation, and the exchange of expertise in tax administration. They also include initiatives to support education, vocational training, educational cooperation, and youth empowerment.

Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in infrastructure development and transport, with a focus on railways, roads, bridges, and housing. The agreements also address local governance, civil defense, and social development.

Additional areas of cooperation include tourism, media, labour, and social security, along with energy, electricity, gas, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and environmental protection. The accords also cover public administration modernization and civil service reform.

Officials said the agreements reflect a shared commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation and advancing sustainable development in line with the mutual interests of Lebanon and Jordan.
