Lebanon, France Discuss Economic Reconstructions

Beirut: Prime Minister of Lebanon, Dr. Nawaf Salam, met on Monday with the Economic Adviser to the French President's Special Envoy to Lebanon, Jacques de Lajugie, who is visiting Beirut. The meeting discussed developments in economic reconstructions, most notably in regard to the amendments to the banks' restructuring law, financial policy and general spending, and the draft law on restoring financial order and recovering deposits, with the aim of reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions between Dr. Salam and de Lajugie highlighted the importance of amendments to the banks' restructuring law. These changes are seen as crucial for Lebanon's efforts to stabilize its financial sector, which has faced significant challenges in recent years.

Additionally, the talks focused on financial policy and general spending, emphasizing the need for prudent fiscal management. The draft law on restoring financial order and recovering deposits was also a key topic of discussion, as Lebanon seeks to build confidence among depositors and international partners.

The aim of these efforts is to reach an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which is considered vital for Lebanon's economic recovery. Both parties expressed their commitment to advancing these discussions in collaboration with the international community.
